MUSIC

Back in the nineteenth century each larger settlement had its vocal group. Values of choral singing are kept till now. Many chorus from Vojvodina, especially young people's ones, attained European and world reputation. The best known are: "Josif Marinkovic" and "Koca Kolarov" from Zrenjanin, "Isidora Sekulic" and church choirs from Novi Sad.
Cherishing of musical culture is supported by Opera of Srpsko Narodno Pozoriste, Vojvodina's philharmonic orchestra, organization Muzicka Omladina (Music Youth) and Department for Music within the Academy of Arts. All larger settlements have schools of music, choruses and orchestras that cherish classical music.
Ensembles and orchestras of RTV Novi Sad that play folk music of all nations enrich musical life of Vojvodina.
